Call of the watchmen

Prayer Letter for Germany - December 2021

Dear intercessors,

This month we are praying into areas which are very much of general concern for Christians in Germany at this time:

  • The new German government and continued support for worldwide religious freedom - especially for the persecuted church.
  • Current and proposed measures to control the corona pandemic and concern for peace within our society.
  • The influence of large technology corporations with an effective monopoly in digital communications - (Facebook, Google, Twitter, Amazon, Apple, for example) - especially on the young generation.
  • Bringing the true message of Christmas in a new way to the people of Germany.
  • Israel preparing for an emergency situation with regard to Iran's nuclear development plans.

But we also are praying during this season of Advent that we as intercessors will continue to grow in love and devotion to God and to one another, and we look to the prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi for guidance:

“Lord, make me a channel of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is error, truth; Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light;

And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.”

These words also provide answers to many of our concerns included in the prayer letter.

May we all find peace and joy at this time as we remember the birth of our Saviour and Redeemer.
