Prayer Letter for Germany - November 2024

Dear intercessors,

Along with several very important prayer concerns within Germany this month, we continue to pray for the current political situation in Germany.

There is now a "Proposal to ban the AfD political party in Germany - (Alternative für Deutschland - Alternative for Germany)", a proposal which has been released by a group of traditional political parties with the intention to put this proposal to the vote in the current German Federal Parliament. This has raised some concern amongst our intercessors in Germany.

As you will read in this month's prayer letter:

"Let us ask God how we can release a new "shout" in prayer that will counteract political polarisation in Germany and release more trust and a sense of togetherness in this land. Let us pray for a new beginning, for bridge-builders in politics and society who know how to transform crises into new opportunities."

Last month we sent the following information to clarify the events that have now given rise to this proposal to ban the AfD politcal party which is a recently formed far-right party in Germany:

"After state elections in three eastern federal states, Turingia, Saxony, and Brandenburg, in September, the traditional German politcal parties lost a significant number of votes to recently formed far-right and far-left parties. There is great concern about the formation of a coaltion of parties with a majority of seats to now run the government of these states in a beneficial way."
